MacBSP is a simple port of Collin Reed's BSP version 1.2 (archived as bsp12x.zip), a Doom WAD node tree builder. The program has not been given a Mac-like interface yet. In the future I would like to add drag-n-drop for sure.
This is a Power Mac-only program.
Command-line argument expected:
name.wad {output.wad}
(If no output.wad is specified, TMP.WAD is written)
Why port a BSP program to the Mac, you wonder? If you're like me and use a 386 PC or SoftWindows to design Doom levels, building a node tree can take a long time. It was taking over six minutes for a level I was working on. With MacBSP on my Power Mac 7100/80, it took six seconds. In the Doom editor I'm using I simply turn 'build node' off when saving the level, then process the file with MacBSP. It has saved me a LOT of time.
So far, no known bugs. Let me know if you encounter any.
If you want further information concerning what a node tree is and why it's important, I encourage you to read "The Unofficial Doom Specs", found at:
